One of the great tourist attractions of Fuengirola is its beaches, and as you can imagine, visiting them is one of the things you have to do in Fuengirola if you come for a visit. However, to make the most of your visit, here is a list of the best beaches in the city.
As we have already mentioned, Fuengirola has 7 different beaches that stretch over a distance of 8 km along its coast, and all these beaches are suitable for swimming, as they all have the Quality Tourism (Q) certification and the Blue Flag award. However, which are the best beaches in Fuengirola? The truth is, all the beaches are great, but it must be said that there are some that stand out from the others for various reasons, which we are going to tell you now.
San Francisco Beach
San Francisco Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Fuengirola. Located in the central area, right next to the Fuengirola Marina and next to the T-shaped breakwater (which is a wall of rocks built over the sea), this small beach is quite cozy and very pleasant to the eyes.
Best of San Francisco Beach
- Fine sandy beach.
- Surrounded by Chiringuitos and close to the restaurants in Fuengirola Port.
- Small but very cozy.
- Possibility to rent umbrellas and sunbeds.
- Sheltered from the waves thanks to the breakwater and the port.
- Pleasant to the eye.

- The water is shallow at the beginning, making it ideal for children.
Carvajal Beach
Carvajal Beach is one of the calmest and more secluded beaches in Fuengirola. It is located at the end of the promenade (reaching the border with Benalmádena) and quite far from the city center. If you are looking for tranquility and want to avoid crowded areas, this beach is worth a visit.

El Ejido-Castillo Beach
The Ejido Beach, commonly known as Castillo Beach, is another beach we recommend visiting if you come to Fuengirola. Located at the foot of the historic Sohail Castle, this beach is a very good option for a day out with the family. On this beach, you’ll find sandboats that you can rent to enjoy beach barbecues (moragas) or ‘espetos‘ (grilled sardines) right on the shore.
The typical thing Fuengiroleños usually do at Castillo Beach is gather with family and friends to rent one of these boats and spend a relaxing day on the beach having a barbecue.
Best of El Ejido-Castillo Beach
- It is located next to Sohail Castle so you’ll have its great view right behind.
- You can rent sandboats to have barbecues (rented for €5 at Fuengirola Local Police).
- It has an area called dog beach, where you can access the beach with your dog.
- Quite spacious and large beach.
- Easy parking in the Castillo’s parking lot
Los Boliches Beach
Finally, the last beach we recommend is Los Boliches Beach. It is right next to San Francisco Beach and extends for about 1 km throughout the old fishing district of Los Boliches.
