Since Fuengirola is located 25km from Malaga Airport, one of Spain’s major airports, it has excellent transportation connections, both public and by road. From Malaga Airport, you have several options to reach Fuengirola:

  • Cercanías RENFE Train: From Malaga Airport, you can take the Cercanías RENFE train heading to Fuengirola, which takes approximately 35 minutes and has 4 different stops in Fuengirola: Carvajal, Torreblanca, Los Boliches, and Fuengirola Centro.
  • Taxi or Uber: Upon exiting the airport, you will find the taxi stand where you can take an Uber or a taxi to reach Fuengirola.
  • Car rental: Malaga Airport has various car rental services where you can rent a car and drive to Fuengirola. The journey on the A-7 highway takes about 20 minutes.

To get to Fuengirola by car, the best option is to use the A-7 Mediterranean Motorway, whether you are coming from Marbella or Malaga Capital, as it passes practically through the middle of Fuengirola. Thanks to its 9 different exits, you can easily access any part of the city. In fact, thanks to the highway and its exits, you can travel from one point to another in the city in less than 5 minutes.

How to Get to Fuengirola by Bus

If you decide to come by bus, Fuengirola has a bus station located in the city center that is well connected to different points in the country and the province. To reach Fuengirola directly by train from outside Malaga Capital is not possible, but you can reach it with a small transfer thanks to the Cercanías RENFE. Typically, if you come by train from outside the province (e.g., on the AVE or AVLO), your journey will end at María Zambrano Station in Malaga Capital. From this station, located in the heart of Malaga, you can take the Cercanías RENFE towards Fuengirola, and in approximately 50 minutes, you will have reached the city.
